Upholding the death sentences, life imprisonment and imprisonment in “Egypt soldiers organization” case

On May 7th, 2019, the Court of Cassation dismissed the appeal and upholded the the sentence of the Giza felonies court in the South Giza case No.3455 of 2014, known in media as “Egypt soldiers organization”

On December 7th, 2017, Giza felonies court headed by judge Moataz Khafagy sentenced 13 defendants to death, 17 others to life imprisonment, 2 defendants to 15 years’ imprisonment, 2 other defendants to 5 years’ imprisonment and acquitted 5.

The sentenced to death:

  1. Bilal Ibrahim Sobhy.
  2. Mohamed Saber Ramadan Nasr.
  3. Gamal Zaki Abdelrahim Saad.
  4. Abdullah El Sayed Mohamed El Sayed.
  5. Yasser Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Khodier.
  6. Saad Abdelraouf Saad Mohamed.
  7. Saad Ahmed Tawfik Hassan.
  8. Mahmoud Saber Ramadan Nasr.
  9. Samir Ibrahim Saad Mostafa
  10. Islam Sulieman Shehata Sulieman.
  11. Mohamed Adel Abdelhamid Hassan.
  12. Mohamed Hassan Ezz El Din Mohamed Hassan.
  13. Tag El Din Hawash Mohamed Hemida.

The Supreme State Security Prosecution charged them of joining a group established contrary to the constitution and laws, possession of arms, murders and attempt to murder and threating the national safety. The lawyers denied all accusations and demanded to make sure of them.

The organization condemns the death sentences against civilians in cases of political ground as it totally disregard the proceedings in Egypt. It, also, calls on the Egyptian authorities to stay death sentences.
