Many countries of the world place the values ​​of human rights in view, and the international community works to make them known through various agreements under which states are committed to respect and promote human rights.

In this context, SALAM International Organization for the Protection of Human Rights - SPH, has followed up with what Qatar did as a step towards broadening its commitments to international principles that raise the value of human rights.

The Qatari Prime Minister has issued a resolution about the accession of Qatar to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. In a step that reflects the seriousness of the Qatari state in adhering to the human rights principles recognized by the international community and the sincere desire to uphold the values ​​of human rights, Alia Ahmad bin Saif Al Thani, Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations, on May 21st 2018, deposited Qatar's accession document to the International Covenants to the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations.

Organization appreciates this step taken by Qatar towards the promotion and preservation of human rights and considers it a serious and important step in abiding by the principles adopted by the international community and its concerned organizations.

Supporting the Qatari decision and seeing it as a good step towards respect for Arab human rights, the organization calls upon other Arab countries, particularly Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, to follow the example of Qatar and take serious and genuine steps to uphold the values ​​of human rights, and calls on them to refrain from the slogans that they repeat, and violate them secretly and publicly, within the borders of their countries and abroad, and to abide by the international conventions on human rights and to immediately end the violations committed against their citizens and citizens of neighboring countries.
